Progress Energy announces agreement with federal fish protection agencies RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 10, 2007) -- Progress Energy has reached agreements with the National Marine Fisheries Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service relating to fish passage at the company's Tillery and Blewett hydroelectric plants. The agreements represent an important milestone in the relicensing process for the plants, which are located on the Pee Dee River in central North Carolina.

Stakeholders sign agreement on hydroelectric plant relicensing project
RALEIGH, N.C. (June 28, 2007) -- Progress Energy and a key group of stakeholders have reached an agreement on the company's pending application before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to relicense the Tillery and Blewett hydroelectric plants. The terms of the agreement, which will be filed with FERC, could allow Progress Energy to continue supplying inexpensive, renewable power for the region for the next 50 years.

Required environmental studies may affect Tillery and Blewett lake levels
RALEIGH, N.C. (July 10, 2006) - Progress Energy plans to conduct extensive environmental studies and modeling to measure river flow patterns, water temperature and dissolved oxygen concentrations in the Pee Dee River downstream of the Tillery hydroelectric plant.

Progress Energy files license renewal application with FERC for its Tillery and Blewett hydroelectric plants
RALEIGH, N.C. (April 27, 2006) -- On April 26, Progress Energy submitted a license renewal application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to relicense the Tillery and Blewett hydroelectric plants in North Carolina. Since 2003, the company has worked with stakeholders, including plant neighbors and local, state and federal agencies, to develop an application that balances the need for generation from the plants with environmental impacts and recreational activities.

More environmental studies to impact river and lake levels
RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 26, 2004) -- Progress Energy will conduct three periods of environmental studies along Lake Tillery, Blewett Falls Lake and the Pee Dee River (downstream of the dams) from Nov. 2-18 and Dec. 1-9, 2004, and Jan. 4-15, 2005.
