This has been a hurricane season Floridians won’t soon forget. Likewise, Progress Energy employees will remember a lot of things about this season, and not just storm names. We will remember your patience, support and encouragement.
You came together in truly inspiring ways, and that kept our employees going through four massive restoration efforts. So from all of us to each of you, thank you
Hundreds of Progress Energy customers have sent letters or called Progress Energy's Customer Service Center to express their appreciation to line and service crews for getting their power back on quickly following Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne. A sample of these letters appears below:

How grateful we are as families and as a school for the diligence with which Progress Energy strived to return power to Florida following the hurricanes. As an elementary school, we are somewhat limited in how we can help following all the devastation, but we did want to let you and all power personnel you contracted know how we appreciated all the extra efforts that were done to help us and others.

My staff and I would like to personally thank you for your tireless effort in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Frances. Please be assured that the long hours you have committed, the dangerous work you do, and the dedication you have shown to the citizens of Pasco County has not gone unnoticed. We sincerely appreciate all of your efforts during this stormy time.

Just a note of thank you for a great job of getting the power back Sunday, Sept. 5, after only three hours without it. Being an ex-combat vet, you don't appreciate electricity until it's not there. Again, many thanks to all of you under extreme stressful conditions.

Thank you for all the hard work that you folks had to do through Hurricane Charley and Frances...and can you believe now Ivan? All is so appreciated - and so thanks to all the out-of-town folks who came to help. Again, please let all the linemen and all the tree trimmers and everyone know how much we thank them. Makes us all (happy face).

To all Progress Energy employees, but especially to the ones that have worked so tirelessly to restore power and are still working all the daylight hours. We didn't lose power during Charley but did during Frances. Now we have another threat coming which if it hits will add even more work for you. It doesn't seem like THANKS is enough. I know we are all grateful for the tireless effort you have put forth. I only wish there was something better than just a big THANK-YOU. I only hope no one else has to pay the ultimate price than those who already have.

Please pass our thanks to your corporate offices for the help you sent from Raleigh, N.C., lineman. I have never met a nicer, more courteous and thorough group of people. These men made sure their repair work was the best. They listened to our concerns and then explained them to us, as well as checked out what we told them in the neighbors house. All of us in Harbor Hills were impressed with their efforts and dedication.

I am writing to thank you for the quick work you did to restore our power after Hurricane Frances. Though we spent two days without power, I know your crews and those from out of state worked endlessly to make sure those of us who were affected would have hot showers, meals and air conditioning as soon as possible. Thank you for all of you and to all the men and women who are working out there to bring our lives back to normal. You are all a Godsend, and we are deeply grateful.

I would like to take this opportunity to say "thank you" for all the hard work, long hours, employees giving up family time and to all the volunteers from out of state. Thank you, thank you, thank you. One good thing came out of all of this mess...without power, I sat on the front porch and watched the sunset. What beauty. Keep up the good work.
