Progress Energy Florida plans to improve the transmission line in the High Springs area of Alachua County.

Crews will replace the transmission structures and lines in Progress Energy's existing right of way. The existing wooden structures will be replaced with single concrete poles near their current locations. The project runs nearly 4.5 miles from our High Springs substation, on Main Street, to our planned Ginnie substation, on Northeast 80th Avenue.

Construction began in September 2007 and will continue through the end of the year. Upon completion of the project, all construction material and debris will be removed, and the right of way will be restored as nearly as possible to its original condition.

If you have questions about this project, contact Project Manager Joe Weiss at 407-942-9541 or by e-mail at joseph.weiss@pgnmail.com.
