Progress Energy Florida plans to improve the transmission line in the Reddick and Martin areas of northern Marion County.

The project will replace the existing transmission structures and lines inside Progress Energy's right of way. In most cases, the existing wooden structures will be replaced with single concrete poles near their current locations. The 69-kilovolt line also will be upgraded.

The project runs about five miles, starting at our Reddick substation, at 4940 W. Highway 316 in Reddick, and heads south to our Martin West substation, at 10460 NW Gainesville Road, in Ocala.

Preliminary work, such as environmental assessment, has already begun. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2009 and will continue through mid-summer 2009. Upon completion of the project, all construction material and debris will be removed, and the right of way will be restored as nearly as possible to its original condition.

If you have questions about this project, please call 888-272-8133, or send an email to Joseph.Weiss@pgnmail.com.
