Progress Energy Florida is improving the transmission line in the Oldsmar area of Pinellas County.

The project is replacing the existing transmission structures with new poles inside Progress Energy’s existing rights of way. In most cases, the existing wooden or steel structures are being replaced with single concrete poles near their current locations. In some areas, Progress Energy’s rights of way cross Tampa Electric Co.’s territory in order to efficiently reach our customers.

The project, which is about four miles long, begins at our Oldsmar substation, 3699 State Road 584 (near the flea market), and ends at our Curlew substation, 3651 Wynford Dr. in Palm Harbor.

Construction begins in December 2009 and is expected to be complete in spring 2010. Please remove personal belongings or material stored in the right of way so our crews will have safe and easy access. Encroachments that have written approval through our Transmission Right of Way Use Program are permitted to remain.

If you have questions about this project, please contact a member of the project team at 877-825-5372.
