Progress Energy plans to improve the transmission line in the Perry and Luraville areas of Taylor, Lafayette and Suwannee counties. This project will ensure a reliable supply of electricity to homes, schools and businesses served by Progress Energy and local electric cooperatives.

Crews will replace the existing transmission structures and lines inside Progress Energy’s existing easement. The existing structures will be replaced with single concrete poles near their current locations. The project runs about 24 miles from our Perry substation, at 1690 E. Green St. in Perry, to our Luraville substation, at 17807 SR 51 in Mayo.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2009 and will continue through early 2010.

Upon completion of the project, all construction material and debris will be removed, and the right of way will be restored as nearly as possible to its original condition.

If you have questions about this project, please leave a message at 888-272-8133 or contact us by e-mail at joseph.weiss@pgnmail.com.
