Progress Energy is in the process of improving electric service to the Pine Ridge Community.

After carefully evaluating a number of alternatives and listening to comments voiced by many of our customers who live in this area, a site on the perimeter of Pine Ridge has been selected as the preferred location for our new substation. This location will allow us to use our existing transmission line on CR 491, and avoid the placement of concrete transmission poles in Pine Ridge.

The new substation will be located on property near CR 491 behind the car wash, just north of Mustang Boulevard. It will connect to homes in Pine Ridge by additional power lines on 45-foot wood poles similar to those that already exist in the neighborhood. These lines will enter and serve the community using road rights-of-way. Construction of the new substation and power lines that are part of the Pine Ridge Electric Service Improvement Project is scheduled for 2005.
