Progress Energy Florida is improving and expanding the Ross Prairie substation at its current location on 85th Avenue. The substation's electrical capacity will be doubled to ensure a reliable flow of electricity to the Dunnellon area and Marion County.

Construction began in August 2007. The expanded substation is expected to be operational by February 2008. Schedules are subject to change.
