Due to continued growth in the Marion County region, Progress Energy Florida plans to improve the transmission line near Ocala.

Crews will replace the transmission structures and lines in Progress Energy's existing right of way. The existing wooden structures will be replaced with single steel or concrete poles near their current locations. The 10-mile transmission line being upgraded begins at the Silver Springs substation, connects with the Santos substation, and ends at Southwest 73rd Street and State Road 200, just west of Interstate 75.

Preliminary work, such as clearing trees, has already begun. Construction is expected to begin this fall. When the improvements are complete in summer 2008, Progress Energy will restore the property as nearly as possible to original condition.

If you have questions about this project, leave a message at 888-250-5196, or send an email to SilverSprings@pgnmail.com.
