Progress Energy Florida plans to build a new 115-kilovolt transmission line in Pasco County.

The project will run 12 miles, starting at Progress Energy's Zephyrhills North substation, and ending at the planned New River substation. As the area's population grows, the line will ensure the community continues to receive reliable electricity from Seminole Electric Cooperative and Withlacoochee Electric Cooperative.

Crews will install poles along Smith Road in April 2008. When work is complete in summer 2008, landscaping and road conditions will be returned as close to their original conditions as possible.

Also in spring 2008, construction will begin on the new substation, called New River, which will take until early 2009.

Construction activities will temporarily limit access to Smith Road at times, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We will do everything we can to minimize the impact on residents and property during this work.

If you have questions about this project, please contact Monica Forbes by email at Monica.Forbes@pgnmail.com or by phone at 727-372-5131.
