Wake and Brigade Boys & Girls Clubs and Progress Energy

Progress Energy is partnering with the Wake and Brigade Boys & Girls Clubs to link high school students with career information and learning opportunities. Through the program, you can access an interactive Web-based program that will measure your interests and strengths. Based on this information, you can find out about job-shadowing opportunities tailored specifically for you. You can also get information on local job-training programs, community colleges, scholarships and job openings.

We hope to expand this program to clubs across the Carolinas and Florida in the near future.
 
Progress Energy will initially focus on job shadowing in the following craft positions (with more to come).

• Instrumentation and control technicians    
• Plant operators
• Operator/mechanics
• Maintenance technicians
• Line technicians
• Substation electricians
• Underground cable technicians

These are all challenging craft positions with great rewards and significant opportunities for advancement.
