What are some of the benefits of working at Progress Energy?

  • Medical, prescriptions, vision, dental, life insurance.
  • 401k and pension plans.
  • Educational assistance – company pays up to $5,200 per year for employees to continue their education.
  • On-the-job and classroom technical training.
  • Opportunities for advancement.

What do I need to do to get the appropriate training?

  • Finish high school. Take shop, mechanics, math, science or basic electronics classes if available.
  • Maintain a clean criminal history to pass company background and drug screen.
  • Stay in good physical shape.

If you think one of these jobs may be a good fit for you, you’ve got several options:

  2. Train for one year to 18 months before being promoted to the next level.
  3. Earn a degree from two year technical or community college with a craft/technical concentration. A two-year degree will reduce the time to promotion.
  4. Earn certification from a specialty program – ex. Maine Maritime,  Southeastern Lineman Training Center. Training will reduce time to  promotion, allowing for quicker progression.
  5. Gain experience through the armed forces (PAYS program – US Army). Relevant Military experience will reduce time to promotion.
