The Harris Nuclear Plant is a single-unit pressurized water reactor with a capacity of 900 MW. This plant was the last U.S. nuclear plant to receive a construction permit and began commercial operation May 1987. Progress Energy has announced plans to possibly add two more reactors to this site.

The Harris Nuclear Plant is located approximately 25 miles southwest of Raleigh in central North Carolina, near the vibrant Triangle area and within easy driving distance to both the mountains and coast. To learn more about the area, click here.
