The Progress Energy Foundation partners with nonprofits in Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina to improve the lives of our customers. Programs funded by foundation grants are typically larger in scope and impact than corporate grants, serving multiple regions or the entire state. During 2006, the Progress Energy Foundation invested over $7 million in the communities we serve.
Grants are limited to organizations that serve Progress Energy customers in Florida, North Carolina or South Carolina. (Click here for a list of counties served by Progress Energy.)
Foundation grants are a minimum of $10,000 and target specific issues within education, economic development and the environment – the "Three E's."
Grants will be considered in 2008, as noted on the schedule below:
- Education (K-12 grants considered Q1 with a Feb. 1 deadline; higher education grants considered Q4 with a Nov. 1 deadline)
- K-12 science, math and energy education
- Scholarships to institutions of higher education that support the company's recruiting strategy
- Economic Development (grants considered Q2 with a May 1 deadline)
- Major community initiatives that support the company's economic development plans
- Environment (grants considered Q3 with an Aug.1 deadline)
- Projects that protect the natural resources of our service areas
