Eligibility: Only businesses, organizations, institutions, or government agencies served by Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc. ("PEC") are eligible to apply. The Applicant must own the solar thermal hot water heating system ("System") and all non-energy attributes of the System, including environmental attributes and/or the renewable energy certificates ("RECs") attributable to the amount of energy generated by the System.

Commercial customers installing solar thermal hot water systems may apply to be paid $20/REC for the system's metered thermal energy. Businesses, organizations, institutions and government agencies served by Progress Energy Carolinas in North Carolina or South Carolina are eligible to apply. In order to qualify, the proposed systems must be rooftop-mounted solar thermal hot water systems ranging in size from 1,200 to 4,000 square feet of collector area (roughly 30 to 100 solar thermal panels).

Payment is subject to application acceptance, appropriate installation and contract execution.
