Palmetto Clean Energy (PaCE) is a statewide effort to encourage the development of renewable resources that improve the environment through reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Through the clean power option, your company will pay $4 for each 100 kWh block of electricity generated from renewable resources, such as solar, wind, biomass and water to be added to the electric grid.

The voluntary PaCE contribution is added to your company's regular monthly electric bill. Contributions collected are sent to PaCE, a nonprofit organization administered by a board of directors from Progress Energy, Duke Energy, SCE&G, SC Energy Office, and the Office of Regulatory Staff to support generation of energy from renewable sources. Funds are being used to add clean power to the statewide electric grid.

This rider is available as of February 1, 2008.

Palmetto Clean Energy is available for purchase ($4 per block of 100 kWh) by any SC electrical energy consumer. There is a minimum 12-month commitment required by the customer. The minimum is one block, with no maximum limit. This block of new renewable energy has a resource mix of solar, wind, biomass and water delivering power to the SC electric grid.
