Second Stage of Protection:

The second stage in this layered, or staged, protection system is premium plug-in protectors. Plug-in protectors are additional protection necessary for sensitive electronic equipment. Unlike our meter-base protector, which offers protection from powerful surges, our premium plug-in protectors are designed to stop the small portion of surges that may not be blocked by the meter-base protector alone.

To achieve optimum protection, Progress Energy recommends that plug-in protectors be used in conjunction with the meter-base protector.

The following plug-in protectors are available for purchase:

Universal 1206 Six-Outlet Swivel Protector

Protects your home entertainment center, home office, advanced computer systems, cable and satelite TVs, or modems and fax lines. The Universal 1206 has a unique swivel design which offers cord flexibility by allowing plugs to be positioned in front or to the side of the protector.

MPM8HT Multimedia Power Strip Protector

Protects your home entertainment center, home office, advanced computer systems, cable and satellite TVs, or modems and fax lines. The MPM8HT has 8 receptacles for a large home entertainment center and/or home office.
