If the attic insulation in your home is less than R-16 (an index of insulation value), you may be eligible for the ceiling incentive.  Once it is recommended during your Home Energy Check, Progress Energy will pay part of the cost to upgrade your attic insulation to either R-19 or R-30. The level you choose will determine the amount Progress Energy pays. You'll receive a list of participating contractors to choose from so that you can have the insulation installed.

If your home has block wall construction you may be eligible for the wall insulation incentive.  Porous block walls are not very energy efficient allowing unwanted air and moisture into your home.  Once it is recommended during your Home Energy Check, Progress Energy will pay part of the costs towards injecting a foam material into the block wall area.

Ceiling Insulation Incentive*

How Do I Qualify?

  1. Complete a Home Energy Check
  2. Eligible residences must have whole-house electric air conditioning and/or whole-house electric heating
  3. Customer must select a contractor from Progress Energy's participating insulation contractor list to be eligible for incentive
  4. Existing attic insulation must be less than R-16 to be eligible for incentive
  5. Area to be insulated must be greater than 500 square feet

What Incentives Are Available?

  • Progress Energy pays $75 if the final insulation level is equal to or greater than R-19, plus 5 cents per square footage above 1,500 square foot
  • Progress Energy pays $100 if the final insulation level is equal to or greater than R-30, plus 7 cents per square footage above 1,500 square foot
