- How much is the Progress Energy Rebate for a solar water heater? An initial $450 rebate plus a monthly EnergyWise credit totaling a maximum of $30 per year for the required EnergyWise appliances or a maximum $60 per year if you add a pool pump to the EnergyWise program.
- How do I qualify for the rebate? You must have whole-house electric cooling, heating and water heating participating in Progress Energy's EnergyWise program and agree to receive the Solar Water Heater with EnergyWise monthly credits for the lifetime of the account.
- Your Progress Energy account shall not have previously received a Solar Water Heater with EnergyWise program incentive.
- The solar water heater must be new and installed after the effective program start date of Feb. 26, 2007.
- Progress Energy must receive the completed incentive application and all required materials within six months of the solar water heater installation.
- A copy of the contractor invoice and a photograph of the installed system must accompany the incentive application for the Solar Water Heater with EnergyWise program.
- Do-it-yourself installations are not eligible for program participation.
- All installations must be accessible for verification by a Progress Energy representative to assure compliance with the program standards.
Once you receive your rebate, you must keep your heating, cooling and water heating devices on the EnergyWise program for a minimum of three years or you will need to reimburse Progress Energy a portion of the $450 installation rebate. The amount of the reimbursement will be determined based on the number of months remaining before the 36 months is completed. The prorated monthly amount is $12.50. For example, if you have completed 27 months on the program, you would be nine months short of the 36 month commitment; nine months x $12.50 per month = $112.50 due to Progress Energy.
Changes to the required appliances can impact eligibility. You should contact Progress Energy prior to making modifications to your heating, cooling, and/or water heating system.

How do I apply for the rebate? The first step is to call Progress Energy at 800.700.8744 and request that EnergyWise be installed on your whole-house electric cooling, heating and water heating systems. Upon the completion of the installation of the EnergyWise, we will supply you with the Solar Water Heater with EnergyWise rebate form. Select a contractor to install your solar system. Work with the solar contractor to complete and return the form.
- How long will it take to get the Progress Energy rebate? A $450 credit will appear on your Progress Energy bill within two billing cycles after the completed rebate form is received and approved by Progress Energy.
