Progress Energy supports clean air, and has invested extensively in emission-reduction technologies. Our plants comply with state and federal emission regulations. Between 1995 and 2013, Progress Energy expects to invest more than $1 billion in clean air technologies at its coal-fired power plants.

Progress Energy has installed a number of NOx-reduction technologies on coal-fired power plants, including two technologies that were the first of their kind in the country. We are not content to let technology develop elsewhere; we're taking a leadership role. Progress Energy put North Carolina's first selective catalytic reduction technology (NOx) in operation at the Roxboro Plant in Person County in 2001.
