Progress Energy supports innovative ways to use and conserve energy sources that protect our environment. We partner with organizations throughout our service territory to support hydrogen, solar and other forms of renewable and alternative energy.

Progress Energy also uses hydroelectric power at four plants in North Carolina and purchases energy from refuse and wood-fueled generators throughout our service area. In addition, nuclear power, which emits no greenhouse gases, makes up more than one-third of our generation mix, with plants located in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.
