In Central Florida, Progress Energy is partnering with Ford Motor Company, BP and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to increase the use of alternative fuels in the United States.

Progress Energy is piloting fuel cell vehicles, also known as FCVs, and will use hydrogen-fueled Ford Focus FCVs in Florida. The vehicles will be driven by counselors who make home visits to advise customers in energy-efficiency methods.

The Ford Focus FCV is one of the industry's first hybrid fuel-cell vehicles, which combines the improved range and performance of hybrid technology with the overall benefits of a fuel cell. BP will install a hydrogen-production fueling station to demonstrate the state-of-the-art fueling technologies to support the FCVs.
