Progress Energy Carolinas partners with the North Carolina Solar Center to educate and collaborate on renewable initiatives including photovoltaic research and technology. The North Carolina Solar Center is sponsored by the N.C. Department of Administration's State Energy Office, the U.S. Department of Energy, and North Carolina State University.
The Solar Center provides technical support to renewable energy consumers including utility interconnection for photovoltaic projects. The center provides interactive learning opportunities to explore alternative energy sources. Renewable energy projects include industrial solar thermal systems, solar water heating, daylighting, residential passive solar options, building-integrated photovoltaic systems, and alternative fuels.
