2012 Corporate Responsibility Report

Progress Energy is actively working to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and help shape effective climate-change policies for our company, our customers and the environment we share.

Global climate change is an issue of unprecedented scope and complexity. A key focus in the power industry today is how to address the challenges of global climate change and demand growth while maintaining a secure electric supply, reliable service and affordable rates. International, national and state efforts to address this issue will continue to evolve.

Meanwhile, Progress Energy is taking action to curb our GHG emissions and to prepare for a carbon-constrained future, including taking steps to leverage state-of-the-art nuclear power, the only large-scale, baseload generation technology that emits no carbon dioxide (CO2).

Please select a topic from the drop-down menu on the right to learn more about our position on global climate change, actions to reduce our carbon emissions and discussion of policies and their impacts on our customers.
