Pay your bill through EZ-Pay:
Duke Energy offers this convenient payment option through a third-party vendor, Kubra. With EZ-Pay you can pay your bill using electronic check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. Just follow the steps below:
EZ-Pay is Safe
Your security and privacy are important to us. When paying with EZ-Pay you’ll be asked to give similar information as you would to pay with a paper check or credit card. All information is kept confidential and secure.
EZ-Pay accepts payment from your Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card or checking account. Non-residential card payments are limited to $20,000 with max 2 transactions per month per account for Visa. Discover and MasterCard allow payments over $20,000 with a 3% transaction fee.
Duke Energy does not receive any of the proceeds of this fee. The $9.95 fee is what EZ-Pay charges for credit card and check transactions up to $20,000. Charges over $20,000 require an additonal fee.
When you pay by electronic check, Duke Energy receives an amount equal to your electric payment and EZ-Pay receives the $9.95 handling fee.
Other companies are able to add the price of processing to what they charge for their goods and services. As a regulated utility, we are not able to do that. By charging only the customers who use the EZ-Pay service the processing fee, it's a fairer way to pay for this convenient payment option. Only the customers who choose to pay through EZ-Pay will incur the fee. If the convenience fee could not be included as a separate charge, we would not be able to offer this additional payment option.
