Custom Incentives

Our Florida Custom Program, offering custom incentives, goes above and beyond our prescriptive offers to help those reaching for a higher level of energy efficiency. These incentives can help you invest in cutting-edge technologies that surpass baseline requirements for Florida building codes.

In order to determine if you qualify for our Custom Incentive program, we highly recommend you have one of our Commercial Energy Assessors come perform a FREE Business Energy Check at your facility. For new construction projects, a no-cost consultation with one of our Energy Assessors is recommended during the design phase.

Your project is more likely to meet our incentive criteria if you select a technology or part of a group of technologies that are weather sensitive. Please review our Incentive Program Brochure before moving forward in the application process. This can give you a better indication of what projects have passed our program criteria.

Please expand the steps below to start the application process.

If you have already completed your project or have already made purchases on equipment, you are not eligible for a Custom Incentive. An incentive offer must be made before the start of any custom project.

  • Pre-Application

Begin by submitting a Florida Custom Program Pre-Application Questionnaire to FloridaCustom@duke-energy.com. Duke Energy will use the questionnaire to evaluate project eligibility and data requirements for approval and respond accordingly with next steps.

Please note: incomplete forms will not be reviewed. If you have questions on how to complete the form in its entirety, you may email FloridaCustom@duke-energy.com and someone from our team will respond within 48 hours.

    Program eligibility requirements:

You must be located in the Duke Energy Florida service territory and be a commercially metered customer.

  • Technical Review

During this phase, Duke Energy Florida assesses the application and calculations provided. To verify the estimated savings for each project, an engineering/billing analysis based on customer-specific site and usage data will be performed. Monitoring may continue until Duke Energy Florida has reasonable assurance that the project will remain in place and produce cost-effective energy savings for its estimated life. An incentive will not be issued until Duke Energy Florida is reasonably sure of the projected savings.

Allow two to four weeks for completion.

  • Approval

You will be notified, through email, once the project has been approved. Please note that to receive custom incentives, approval must be granted prior to the initiation of the project.  A formal application will be sent with an offer letter after approval has been made.

  • Project Implementation

Once approved, you are able to proceed with the installation of your project. You have 90 days to request payment after the project has been fully installed. Duke Energy Florida will complete an inspection of all project installations. Duke Energy will inspect installations to verify  operability of the technology and/or to obtain information needed to calculate the approved custom incentive amount.

  • Final Review and Payment

Once the equipment has been installed, Duke Energy performs a final technical review of the completed application to verify that installed equipment matches incentive measures on the original application. Duke Energy processes payment of the incentive as soon as the technical review is complete.
