Learn how to lower your energy bill

The Home Energy Check is a free evaluation of your home's energy efficiency. You'll receive a custom report showing your home’s past and current energy usage, a free energy-efficiency kit*,  no‐ and low‐cost tips that you can use right away to improve energy efficiency, and expert recommendations for home improvements that will save energy and add value to your home.

Choose from three convenient ways to receive your free Home Energy Report and/or qualify for a rebate performed via Duke Energy:

  • Online – Complete a Home Energy Check right from your computer, whenever it’s convenient for you. You’ll receive your custom report immediately after completion.
  • By phone – Residential customers call 1.877.574.0340 during business hours to have an energy advisor walk you through the Home Energy Check over the phone and send a custom report to you.
  • In your home – Have an energy advisor perform a room-by-room evaluation of your home’s energy usage. Along with the report you'll receive a free energy-efficiency kit.

** Savings are estimates based on a typical home of 1,850 sq. ft. with an annual kWh usage of 15,000, calculated at $.12/kWh and assumes all components of the kit will be installed and operate over their useful life. They are based upon engineering assumptions and approximations from DEF Base Study, DOE and ENERGY STAR®. Actual savings may differ from those estimated due to variations in weather, individual energy use habits, occupancy and home characteristics.

*Free energy-efficiency kit given upon completion of a Home Energy Check for single-family homes. Customers living in apartments, condos, duplexes and townhomes may be eligible for the Multi-Family Energy Improvement Program.
